Santorini (also known as 'Thira') is a volcanic island lying about 120 miles southeast from mainland Greece. Santorini will capture your heart; it stole my heart years ago. Imagine stepping off of your plane and into a postcard. That is how you will feel with a honeymoon in Santorini. This striking island remains one of Greece's most cherished tourist destinations. With authentic Grecian villages perched on cliff-sides high above black-sand beaches and calderas, Santorini is an ideal choice for people in love. Delicious local cuisine, vineyards, and peaceful villages combine to form a diverse island that routinely mesmerizes visitors worldwide. Here are the sexiest honeymoon resorts in Santorini.

Considered by many to be the best hotel in Santorini, Canaves Oia Suites is the epitome of luxury, privacy, and romance. The 24 expansive suites afford you dramatic caldera views from your private veranda. Each features a private swimming pool. Hop aboard the resort's private yacht, and spend an unforgettable night snuggling in the middle of the shimmering Aegean Sea. It isn't easy to picture a more idyllic setting.

Lying on the edge of Oia is the incredible Ikies Resort. Divided into several 'houses,' the common thread is clean lines, white walls, and minimalist décor that blends into the sun-drenched town's crisp white buildings. For honeymoons, you will want to choose either the Winemaker's or the Carpenter's House. Both cater, especially to romantic holidays. The suites in those houses offer Jacuzzis and private terraces with lounge chairs and jetted tubs.

Like so many other hotels in Santorini, this beautiful island hideaway perches above the Aegean in the cliffs of Imerovigli. But that's where the similarities end. Organized around a stunning and iconic pool, Astra has 26 suites. Each offers eye-popping features like unique wood and marble art and bold color splashes. If you are looking for lovely views over the Skáros Rock, Astra Suites is the resort for you. The service is excellent; the staff is attentive but unobtrusive—hard to see but impossible to miss.

Fresh, minimalist, and utterly marvelous, Grace Hotel Santorini forgoes the decoration for immense swathes of pristine white and sea views. The infinity-edge pool cascades down the cliffside; it is truly sensational. Come sunset; you will want to head to the Champagne lounge because of breathtaking views of the caldera. Most of the 22 bespoke rooms feature an outdoor pool. Do you want to have all your desires met? The staff customize each stay, expect a consultation on everything from your choice of pillows to which island adventures you want to experience.

Andronis Luxury Suites

Andronis Luxury Suites is a luxury boutique resort perches above the sparkling Aegean Sea; this property has an enviable location overlooking the Mediterranean's Caldera side. Additionally, it is within walking distance of stores and eateries of Oia. An exciting infinity pool tops the cliffs and sea below. The stand out suite at Adnronis is The Cave Pool Suite; the retreat is carved-into-the-cliffs and comes with a balcony and heated cave plunge pool. After a delightful afternoon dip, step outside the hotel and stroll the village searching for one-of-a-kind Grecian souvenirs.

Tucked away within the ancient village of Megalohori, the delightful Vedema has emerged from a 400-year-old winery and a 100-year-old mansion. And it is now an authentic, Cycladic-styled property. The resort is a charming, luxurious, and intimate sanctuary. Surrounded by a stone wall and vineyards, it overlooks the quaint village. Vedema is home to 59 spacious suites and villas; many come with jacuzzis or private pools.

Refined dining includes the Pergola that sits poolside and offers delicious Greek cuisine.

I love the traditional Greek Island experience is available at San Antonio. The 29 rooms are whitewashed, cut out of the volcanic rock, and trimmed in pastel hues. Jaw-dropping views abound from every inch of the resort. The Instagram-worthy pool is stunning. The open-air restaurant lies on the cliffside, and not only romantic is it romantic, but it sources ingredients straight from the island itself.

Perivolas is one of Santorini's most serene hideaways; you won't find a single TV at the resort! The resort offers terraced gardens, whitewashed cave rooms, a world-renowned restaurant, wellness center, and spa in addition to awe-inspiring views. Perivolas was the first resort to construct a cliffside infinity pool. This adults-only sanctuary is perfect for couples that don't wish to be disturbed on their honeymoon.

Perched high above the charming fishing village of Ammoudi, the recently revealed Canaves Oia Epitome is the only resort in Santorini that offers both sea and sunset views from each of its 24 suites. Suites awash in Cycladic architectural trademarks, and contemporary features claim generous outdoor terraces, perfect for appreciating that blessed Aegean sunshine and a light zephyr.

Carved into the mountainous Caldera cliffs, Mystique overlooks the turquoise expanse of sea that surrounds Santorini. Gentle curves and arches enhance the softened color palette; the hotel is an isolated hideaway that allows open horizons, in a stunning and legendary location. The unique environment affords the resort a peaceful and discreet position. The reason that Mystique remains favorite for honeymooners and romantic escapes is the carefree spirit and upscale feel. All 41 suites boast panoramic sea views and are linked by cobbled pathways to the active volcano that has shaped Santorini.

It's not too often 'cave-like' is a compliment, but it is authentic for Iconic Santorini. The terraced suites' five levels were carved directly into the hillside of Imerovigli, which the highest elevation on the island. Don't worry; you won't have to rough it at Iconic. The resort is full of luxury touches like the four-layer beds, speedy wi-fi, spacious balconies, and rain showers. Have you dreamed of staying in a cave-dwelling? It would be best if you chose the Grotto Suite.

Santorini is my favorite place on the planet. The natural beauty is astounding when you combine that with incredible cuisine, glorious vineyards, stunning beaches, and spectacular luxury resorts, you get a perfect honeymoon destination.
