USA Anniversary Destinations That You Can Travel to Now

An anniversary trip — regardless of how many years have passed since you walked down the aisle — is a great way to invigorate your marriage. Whether you're celebrating 1, 5, 10, 20, or 30 years, you can rejuvenate your love with a journey across Europe. Perhaps reliving your honeymoon 20 years later to see if it is as wonderful as you remember is more your speed? Maybe you couldn't afford that fantasy honeymoon in Bora Bora, but now you can? You can have an anniversary celebration that honors your history and strengthens your love.

Every year to celebrate our anniversary, my husband and I take a trip. We have traveled alone and with our boys. Either way, I look forward to the trip every year, but COVID-19 has brought international travel to a virtual standstill. This year, I had to satisfy my travel itch with a quick trip to Blackberry Farms in Walland, TN. As a travel snob, I have preferred to travel to more exotic destinations rather than our backyard. But I quickly realized that our backyard has much to offer. Here are my USA anniversary destinations that you can travel to now.

California

I lived in Cali for several years, and it remains near and dear to my heart. It offers tons to do, gorgeous scenery, and romantic adventures around every corner. If you want to read more about the state, check out my Romantic California Honeymoon Adventures.

Northern California

Take the journey from San Francisco down the famed Pacific Coast Highway. Sail under the Golden Gate Bridge, sip wine in Napa Valley, play with dolphins at the fantastic eco-raft in Monterey Bay, and relax watching the waves crash against the shore in Big Sur.

Southern California

While the beaches are the main draw, you will find unique terrain in Southern Cali. Come for the sand and sun, but then stay for the stark desert landscapes and twinkling stars in Joshua Tree! The perfect spot to get some much-needed privacy and to relax, Joshua Tree offers an incredible getaway from your every day.

Jessie's Travel Tip: As you plan your future travel, understand that restrictions are in flux—certain things may be closed, and some communities do not want outside visitors.

The Pacific Northwest

Oregon and Washington are the ideal places for couples that love the outdoors. Take to the mountains and chase waterfalls as you explore the rugged coastlines and immense forests. If you love glamping, the campgrounds in the Pacific Northwest will not disappoint. You will find hundreds of hidden grounds to choose from—make sure to book ahead; they book up quickly.

Jessie's Travel Tip: Climate change has decimated the Pacific Coast! If you travel there, ensure that you are following all local restrictions in regards to fire safety. Expect HUGE fines against if you don't!

The Southwest

Take an exciting self-drive through the Southwest. You will marvel at how nature has given way to a wonderland of red rock spires, pinnacles, buttes, and domes in this unparalleled region of the country. Negotiate invigorates rapids in Cataract Canyon, rappel precipitous cliffs in Zion National Park, or ride a donkey to the Grand Canyon's deep depths. If you want to read about one of my favorite resorts in the Southwest, read my Honeymoon Like Beyonce & Jay-Z.

Jessie's Travel Tip: You will need to stay socially distanced while exploring. Consider camping or renting an RV. You can focus on national parks and stick to the outdoors as much as possible.

Utah's Big Five

Utah's Big Five Parks welcome travelers of all ages and abilities. Visit its most beautiful and preserved natural areas. Beginning in Las Vegas, weave your way through Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, and Arches National Parks. Utah is worthy of a trip all on its own. Engage local guides to get a backstage pass to Utah's wonders. You can cap off your trip with a stay at the desert oasis. The best resort in Utah is Amangiri; if you want to learn more about it, read my Honeymoon like Emily Ratajkowski.

Jessie's Travel Tip: If you are traveling, pay close attention to the CDC guidelines. Avoid close contact with people that aren't in your party.

Montana

Claiming quality powder and awe-inspiring untamed natural landscapes, Montana's Flathead Valley makes for a stunning winter retreat destination. On this exciting itinerary, you can experience all that winter has to offer– from skiing the slopes to snowmobiling the backcountry and even trying your hand at dogsledding– all from the comfort of your luxurious accommodations conveniently located in Whitefish's quaint yet lively downtown.

Jessie's Travel Tip: Wear a mask out in public. Remember to wash your hands often, and use sanitizer. And avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

Before building Washington, DC, the United States' capital moved several times, including New York City and Philadelphia. Aboard the luxury train, you will explore our nation's history and experience both cutting edge. America's coastal cities — including Providence, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and DC Submerge yourself in antiquity as well as innovative in cuisine, art, and culture.
